Ag's Diary (19/4/735 - excerpt 2)
Excerpt from the journal of Joybringer Aghub Bazaap, written on the 19th day of the 4th Moon of the Barovian year 735.
As Mr Zarovich had given us the run of the castle, and Lliira had given me an assurance of safety, we decided to do some snooping. Our first point of interest was a chapel, containing the remains of an unwelcome visitor, and an amulet that Strahd seemed reluctant to touch. Zynmar, of course, picked it up, but it seemed to do her no harm. I, having given my last helpful friend over to Strahd, raised the intruder's body to serve as my new assistant.
Moving on, we became the victims of some sort of practical joke: a dummy "attacked" us from above and, regrettably, Zynmar retaliated, invalidating my divination of safety; Strahd did seem to be giving consideration to the possibility that I might borrow a suit of armour, and if we see him again I must restate the request as I now feel quite vulnerable in this potentially hostile place.
So far though, aside from an encounter with some rather territorial rats, we haven't encountered any real danger. We even met a new friend - one who appears to be in a difficult situation presently, but was nevertheless able to give us some potentially useful information. It seems there's likely something of interest to us hidden beneath a monument in an abandoned village some distance south of here, along the west bank of the river. Worth investigation, I feel.
